Biography
A Therapist Who Meets
You Where You Are
Andrea Morris, LCPC, LMFT is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist focusing on marriage, couple, and family therapy. Andrea works with individuals, couples, and families, holding space for clients to feel safe, develop a new understanding of themselves, and begin making movements toward change. Her training and experience include couples' issues, life transitions, stepfamilies, parent/teen issues, depression, anxiety, grief, and loss.
Andrea has completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples — one of the most rigorously researched approaches to couples therapy available, with studies showing 70–75% of couples achieving full recovery from relationship distress.1 She earned her certification in EFT through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), recognizing her demonstrated excellence in this approach. She works with couples to identify and change negative interaction patterns, and to foster the deeper emotional connections that make relationships thrive.
Before entering the counseling field, Andrea built experience in business and education, bringing an additional layer of understanding to family systems and human development. She holds a master's degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University, a master's in education from Northwestern University, a BA from the University of Wisconsin, and a certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. She previously worked as a volunteer at the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
Andrea is licensed in the State of Idaho, is a Member in Good Standing with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and is verified by Psychology Today. Andrea is also a member of the board of directors for the Southwest Idaho Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (SWIEFT).
Andrea practices at Jefferson Street Counseling in downtown Boise.
Therapeutic Philosophy
Helping You Shift, Connect, & Grow
"Gaining a deeper understanding of yourself or your relationship can help you shift, connect, and bring the best version of yourself to life."
Andrea believes that every person carries the capacity for growth — even when life feels stuck, painful, or overwhelming. Her work is grounded in the conviction that safety, insight, and connection are the foundations of lasting change.
Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory, and a person-centered approach, Andrea helps clients understand the underlying emotional patterns driving their distress. Rather than focusing only on surface behaviors, she works to get at the root — the unmet needs, fears, and longing for connection that shape how we relate to ourselves and the people we love.
Whether working with a couple wanting to feel closer, one navigating a difficult transition, or an individual struggling with anxiety or relationship issues, Andrea brings deep warmth, professional rigor, and a genuine belief in her clients' capacity to heal and grow.
